Chika Watanabe is an award winning chocolatiere and has worked at some of the world’s most prestigious hotels including Claridges, The Lanesborough Hotel and The Carlton Tower. Chika was head chocolatiere at Melt, London’s famous chocolate boutique. She won several awards including the International Chocolate Award and the Great Taste Award. She led concessions at Selfridges and Harrods and in Tokyo, all covered on the Japanese media. In 2014 Her dream came true. She established her own brand. In 2015 Chika was awarded The Best Comer by the Academy of Chocolate in addition to her two Gold and Silver, Bronze awards for chocolate bonbons. Her work also introduced by Japanese media BS Asahi. Her fresh, innovative designs and commitment to quality have earned a reputation for excellence in London’s competitive culinary world. Both Japanese and British magazines have featured Chika as a bold chef who has brought Japanese art into a european tradition. In discussing her personal approach and creative aspirations, Chika remarks: ‘My inspiration comes from Japan – where ancient tradition and new technology work together. I combine this with the european art of fine chocolate. I want to create something new, a style of chocolate that London has never seen before’
